Egon Stahl-Award (ESA) in Bronze 2010

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Egon Stahl donated a medal, a document and a monetary prize in order to recognize and promote young scientists working in the field of Pharmacognosy (Pharmaceutical Biology) and Analytical Phytochemistry.

As a rule, the bronze medal and an award of € 1500 will be given to young scholars up to the age of about thirty whose theses are of outstanding quality.

In 2010 the ESA Bronze will be given during the 58th International congress and annual meeting of GA in Berlin on Aug. 29 – Sept. 2, 2010 (www.ga2010.de).

Members of the GA - Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research are invited to submit nominations for candidates together with supporting data to the GA president, Prof. Dr. Brigitte Kopp, Vienna.

A nomination for the prize has to include a curriculum vitae incorporating the candidate´s scientific career, an index on her/his publications, and reprints of her/his thesis and recent publications.

All documents have to be submitted in electronic form (as CD in 3 copies). Deadline for submissions is March 15, 2010. The awardee is expected to give a lecture on his/her scientific work.

Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award 2010 of GA - the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research

The Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award acknowledges outstanding results of pharmacological and/or clinical research in the field of herbal medicinal products. The award is endowed with 10000 € by the endowing sponsor Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH, Karlsruhe (Germany).

The aim of the award is to motivate preferentially young scientists (normally 40 years or younger) to resolve phytotherapeutical and phytopharmaceutical problems in an interdisciplinary approach, in order to support the evidence-based use of natural products.

Research groups and scientists of universities and other non-commercial scientific institutions are entitled to apply. Scientific applications to be nominated (consisting of up to three relevant scientific publications on a specific topic which have been published during the last three years, the CV(s) and the list(s) of publications) must be submitted to the president of GA - Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research, Prof. Dr. Brigitte Kopp, Vienna, in electronic form (as CD-Rs in five copies) until April 15, 2010.

The Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award will be bestowed during the annual GA congress in Berlin, Aug 29 – Sept. 2, 2010 (www.ga2010.de), the awarded scientific results shall be presented during this annual congress (detailed information here).
